Atlanta Metal Roofing from a Shop That Measures First

LB Roofing and Construction installs standing seam metal and similar panel systems on homes across metro Atlanta. Worthouse steel tile and DECRA stone-coated steel are available in Georgia; those are systems we install when the house and the budget call for them. If you want a straight comparison to asphalt, we will measure on site and put both options in writing.

We started in Marietta and Cobb County in August 2008. Office: 3101 Cobb Pkwy SE, Suite 124, Atlanta, GA 30339. Call 404-875-6222, Monday through Saturday, 8am to 7pm, or use the form below.

When metal makes sense on an Atlanta house

Asphalt is still the default roof here. Published installed asphalt runs $4.50-$7.50 per square foot. Metal costs more up front. The published range for metal on an average home is $18,000-$30,000+. Pitch, panel type, trim, and decking repairs move that number.

Metal is worth looking at when the house already has it, the architecture expects standing seam or a steel-tile look, or you want a longer service life than a 20-to-25-year shingle roof. Shade, pine needles, and wet valleys chew through asphalt. After a storm, some owners want to compare systems, not just shingle colors. See our storm damage insurance claim page if wind or a tree did the damage.

Metal does not stop leaks at a bad chimney or a failed pipe boot. Flashing and the deck still decide whether the roof holds. If a repair will do, we say so. If you are mainly shopping asphalt, start at Atlanta roof replacement.

Residential metal is metro Atlanta. Commercial metal can go anywhere in Georgia; start with commercial roofing.

Standing seam, steel tile, and stone-coated steel

Standing seam is the panel system most people mean by “metal roof.” Panels run from eave to ridge. Fasteners are concealed at the seams. It is the system we quote most often.

Worthouse steel tile is steel formed to read as tile. It is an option in Georgia, and we install it as a system when it fits the house.

DECRA stone-coated steel is another steel system available here. Stone-coated panels have a granular finish. Same rule: it is a system we install.

The estimate names the system, the underlayment, and the trim. We will not talk you into a steel-tile profile on a house that wants a simple standing seam, or the reverse.

Shingle brands we also install, if metal is not the job: CertainTeed, GAF, Owens Corning, Tamko, and IKO. More on About Us. Clay and concrete tile is a different page: tile roofing in Atlanta.

How a metal roof job runs

  1. Free inspection. We walk the roof, check pitch, deck, ventilation, and flashing, and send photos with a written recommendation. You get a metal option only if it belongs on that house.
  2. Tear-off to the deck. Old covering comes off. Loose boards get re-nailed. Soft or damaged decking is replaced before panels go down.
  3. Underlayment. Ice and water shield at valleys, chimneys, skylights, and other penetrations. Field underlayment suited to the system. Metal does not skip this step.
  4. Panels or steel tile. Standing seam, Worthouse steel tile, or DECRA, as quoted. Trim, ridge, and wall flashings are part of the system.
  5. Site. Materials arrive early the morning of installation. We roll a dump trailer in the morning of the job and roll it out when we leave. Larger or steeper metal roofs can take more than one day.

What a metal roof costs in Atlanta

Published installed range for metal on an average home: $18,000-$30,000+. That is the number already on our site. A small standing-seam ranch and a steep, cut-up steel-tile roof are not the same job.

For comparison, asphalt is $4.50-$7.50 per square foot installed. The estimate is free and itemized after we measure on site. We do not quote metal off a photo.

Payment and financing

On most jobs you do not pay until the work is complete. On larger jobs we may collect a partial payment when materials land on site. The balance is due when the roof is finished. Financing is available through Magwitch if you want to spread the cost. Ask us about financing.

Atlanta metal roofing FAQs

Do you only install standing seam?

No. Standing seam is the panel system we quote most. Worthouse steel tile and DECRA stone-coated steel are also available in Georgia, and we install those systems when they fit.

How much does a metal roof cost in Atlanta?

The published range for an average home is $18,000-$30,000+. Pitch, the system, trim, and decking repairs change the number. Asphalt, for comparison, is $4.50-$7.50 per square foot installed. The quote is free after we measure on site.

Will metal stop my leak?

Only if the leak is in the field and the new system is flashed correctly. A bad chimney cricket, failed wall flashing, or rotten decking will leak under metal the same as under shingles. That is why we tear off to the deck.

How long does a metal roof take?

Many residential metal jobs finish in a day or two. Materials show up early the morning of installation. Steeper roofs, steel-tile profiles, and houses that need a lot of decking take longer.

When do I pay, and is financing available?

On most jobs, no payment until the roof is complete. On larger jobs, a partial payment may be due when materials are delivered. Financing is through Magwitch. Ask us about financing. Every replacement includes our 5-year workmanship warranty.
